The Crying Shame was formed by Arlan and Dylan as an acoustic guitar and cello duo in Bellingham, Wa . 2001. Their music was influenced heavily by old country, blues, Bob Dylan and Beethoven, with some punk thrown in for good measure. Since then, they've added Eric (Prosser, Delay) on electric guitar, Oliver (Elvi's, Delay) on drums and Teo Benson on violin. Their sound is decribed as gothic/orchestral/folk/americana and even if you have a dictionary it won't do you much good. They've played with Gerald Collier (who got them their first seattle show), Carolyn Mark (who was kind enough to listen to Arlan brag about his greatness), The Radio Nationals, The Memphis Radio Kings, The Elvi's, Robert Blake, Kasey Anderson, Footstompin' Trio and nearly every band in Bellingham. They're releasing a full length album in May and a live split record with Folk Great Robert Blake, currently available at sameroomrecords.com
